Contrails: Aug '26, Week 3
✨ Greetings, cruel world! ✨
I feel like I've spent too much time thinking, talking, and hearing about AI use this week. I'm tired from trying to cut out AI slop, manipulative ads, and empty content from my daily life -- like empty calories, you reach for it cause it looks enticing to the ancient reptilian brain, but are left feeling unsatisfied even if you watch, read, or listen till the end. Change is uncomfortable, especially when it's to pull away from the norm, but I'd like to think that I'm making progress towards appreciating being a live. 🥹
Besides that, I think my week was alright! 💜

A lot of my time went into editing and practicing vocals. But that's just the usual, right? I managed to finish what I had set out to do, and used the rest of the time doing chores and preparing the house for the weekend, when my partner would be home most of the day, and friends would be over to hang out over board games. But that's the usual as well, right?
I've come to realize that if I treat what I do regularly as "work", there's no reason to highlight everything I did just because it's different from what a normal day looks like for others. 🤔 Moving forward, I'd like to focus on reflection and contemplation if and when they happen -- it is totally normal if I don't have big revelations every week to share, after all. 🤣
The biggest change this week isn't really noteworthy, but here it is: I concluded my Support Mage/ Personal Assistant activities on Monday. I had been winding down over the past month, so it doesn't feel like there was a significant change after I sent off my last bit of work. 🤔 For now I'm back to camping at taverns, I guess. Party leaders HMU, maybe?! 🤔🤔🤔🥺🥺🥺
Anyway, since I was mostly hustling this week, I didn't have much energy to game. So I was either watching my partner do FFXIV Dancing Mad Ultimate (Congrats on the clear this week! 🎉) or play FFVII Rebirth. Whenever I did have enough energy, I played a little FH6, FFXIV, and Tokyo 7th Sisters (T7S).
Tokyo 7th Sisters ended their long run this month, so I decided to update my game to the official offline client. I remember picking up the game when their rhythm game mechanic was still novel for its time -- it used to be a circular beat map, with a marker going round and round that you had to tap on time. Then it became a standard vertical lane with falling markers. Then it introduced the current CHUNITHM-style up-swipe air hold. It also used to have a mini-game to boost character stats. The team at DONUTS (Fun fact: The "main" character of Tokyo 7th Sisters loves donuts.) is also the team behind D4DJ, with the engaging fader sliders and disk scratch mechanics. I've always respected their attempts to challenge what mobile rhythm gaming could be. However...
I haven't been playing either game much in the past year because at some point, I no longer enjoyed most of the songs being released in both games. For both games I have always returned once in a while to see where the story and music releases were at, hoping to be drawn back into the game. But the reality of music making is that not every release is going to be a huge hit, so I was often left disappointed. For Tokyo 7th Sisters, I just could not vibe with the music after SEVENTH SISTERS, AXiS, Le☆S☆Ca, and KARAKURI were phased out of the story. 💔 But the game held a special place in my heart because at the heart of the game, my favorite character (Nanasaki Nicole) always remained a core part of the story.
Thank you for all the hard work, DONUTS! 🎉
I hope that they can focus more on D4DJ now...? 🤔🥺

That's about it for the week! ⭐️
I feel like crashing out and just playing Divinity Original Sin for a whole day, but I want to work. We'll see what happens. 🤔🤣
~💜~
