Contrails: Oct '26, Week 2

Good evening! I was focused on cleaning up the aftermath of a mishap over the weekend today, so I decided to write my blog tomorrow. But since I managed to finish what I had to do and have some energy left, I'm writing before heading to bed! 🌙

Valhalla!

We reached the end of Valheim! Actually, there's content we haven't encountered yet. But beating the final boss and reaching the end of the campaign was a huge relief. Why feel relieved and not satisfied? It's hard to feel satisfied because the final boss bugged out and we needed to use dev tools to fix our game, and it wasn't a difficult fight despite being under-geared. 🤔

Still, I suppose I did enjoy playing Valheim for 5 weeks straight. 🤔 It's a game I wouldn't mind replaying with friends, but there are other survival craft games I enjoy more. I'm looking forward to Don't Starve Together's update coming this Friday! 💖

But first! Ratatan 1.0 was released this week! I had fun! My partner and I realized that the Ratatan server tends to de-sync more often during Asia evening, but we still managed to enjoy the game in the day time! 💜 We're still stuck in Episode 2, but at least we managed to see SOME new content! ✨

:( Well, only I reached Episode 3... because his game got affected by a known bug. I hope it gets fixed soon...

On the topic of new content, I spent maybe a little too much energy being upset that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass for Year 2 costs more than 50% of the base game price once again. After ranting about it with my partner, I recognize that for a live-service game subscription, 40 SGD for 1 year is really not much. 40 SGD is also not much considering the average wage of someone my age. But it felt like a slap in the face, because 40 SGD to try 6 new race courses when my income is 0 SGD felt like unjustified expenditure for me. The other problem is that I never particularly enjoyed playing with others in Online mode, and I'm not very experimental with my builds, so it REALLY is paying just to go a few rounds some circuits.

So I made the tough decision to stop playing Sonic Racing after using the latest Festival to earn enough tickets for the title I wanted for a long time.

On the bright side, I quit as a winner. :P

My game stats! I couldn't believe that even though I'd been using exclusively Wave for so long, that I still did more races with Blaze! That just shows how much I was playing the game in the beginning I suppose... Also, "Your Machine's Inferior!" ✨

I hope I'll pick up the game again some time down the road. I really do enjoy it a lot.

For now, I keep reminding myself that Forza Horizon 6's upcoming "expansion" is not a map expansion (I think?!), so it is truly optional.

Summer time vibes! Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of chasing Weekly Festival Playlist rewards, so this week I played just for vibes. Driving in Forza gives me the same feeling of calm and wonder as flying my Solar ship in No Man's Sky or sailing in Windrose. Something about the engine humming and feeling protected in a vehicle is very comforting to me. 🤔🥺 (Maybe less so on a ship/ boat.)

If I stop playing Forza too, I'll have no more vehicles to chill out in!!! So I'll keep playing until the next best thing! 🤣

🐰 IRL 🐰

Haze was really bad this week, so my throat often felt scratchy despite being indoors most of the time. (I can smell the haze seeping through the gaps in the front door and windows.) Other than that I'm alright! I got to meet my and my partner's families, and managed to complete most of what I set out to do for the week. :) Partner was home more than usual too, so that was nice! 💜

Many internal battles were won this past week too -- despite the very unwelcome nightmare last night where I relived an exaggerated amalgamation of hurtful experiences from my past relationship. Normally these thoughts and dreams shake me up by resurfacing in my mind several times throughout the day, and often for a few more days after. But I've learned that only I can make myself feel safe - even if it's from my own mind.

I will reclaim what's mine!
