Looking back: Aug '25, Week 3

Strangely, the part of the week before I was done unpacking and the days after I was done felt like 2 separate weeks. 🤔 Maybe because the house feels so different without having a bunch of boxes and bags lying around! ✨ Fortunately I took quite a few photos this week, so all I had to do was review them to remember how I spent my time. 🥹I did a few notable things this week:

1️⃣Restuffed my plushie friends 🦛🐋🐕🐇

Hippo is just out for a swim. I did not skin it and leave it to drown. Trust. : )

Meet my guardians: HUGE kokujira (please call it "K The Whale")🐋, Futaba Anzu bunny (from when I used to cosplay The iDOLM@STER)🐇, and Puppers 🐕.

I love plushies, and have accumulated quite a number over the years -- mostly gifts from people who know I do. Some of them needed a little help to come back to life, so I "did my magic" and now I have several of them hanging out in my living room! 💜

They help with the acoustics of my living room/ work area, so I suppose they are a part of my music production team now! 🤔💜

Most of the fluff used was just loosened and recycled from the original plushies, and with donations from my Hippo bed friend and 1 cushion! Hippo itself was re-stuffed using Hobby Fill that I received on my birthday this year from Abby via Throne! (Thanks again, Abby~♪)

2️⃣ Decorated my work area with prints from artist alleys 🎨

I have A LOT more prints to put up around my house, but I figured that it was important to put my favorites at my workspace first, since I spend a lot more time here. There is also a wall dedicated to FFXIV/ Square Enix, and my partner chose to put up all his Touhou prints at his desk.

Can't wait to fill the house with more color! ✨

3️⃣ Displayed my Ditto plushie and Poké Doll collection :)💜

WHY IS THE WOBBUFFET DITTO DETECTED AS A FACE?!

I love the Pokémon Ditto. :) I also like the idea of throwing Poké Dolls at wild Pokémon to distract them so that you can escape. So I have lots of Ditto plushies and Poké Dolls, and looking at them makes me very happy. I always have a small Ditto Poké Doll right under my work PC screen to remind myself to stay positive when times are tough.

I'm glad that they have all been freed from storage jail! 💜💜💜 There are some that aren't in the photos though (a set of 4 Oricorio Poké Dolls and the Ditto Poké Doll on my desk).

4️⃣ Played ISS Vanguard (board game) with friends 🚀

Helped with a surprise attack by this baddie (or at least, baddie for now 🤔🤔🤔)

This is probably going to be a weekly occurrence, so I'll likely bring up my board game sessions with friends only when there's something interesting to share. 🤔

ISS Vanguard has a narration app that comes with background music and sound effects, so we've been using it during our session. This made me realize that I miss reading the logs/ flavor text from board games. I quite like narrating, and it's fun to see the reader's reaction when they realize the consequence of the text they're reading to everyone. It's kind of similar to playing visual novels together with friends, where we can easily pause the game text to discuss what's coming next in the story.

But it's okay! I'm down for trying a different experience. :)

5️⃣ Played Don't Starve Together with some inexperienced friends... and almost lost my cool 💢🥹

Been a while since I played a game that snowballed to a point that it was difficult to recover from.

Lesson learned: Don't play a support when I need to be the carry.

Also, long Autumn sucks. :)

Hopes for this week

♪ Practice vocalizing in my new home - I'm hopeful that construction noises will die down as the Hungry Ghost Festival has begun. We'll see if I manage to record vocals!

☆ Line my shelves and reorganize some of the stuff I've put away.

☆ Make my kitchen curtains (I'll take a photo if it turns out nice!)

☆ Have some time to game... Gale of Waterdeep (BG3) is still waiting for me...
