Looking back: May '25, Week 3

Now that I think about it, was the week of 12 May 2025 considered the 2nd or 3rd Week of May? 🤔🤔🤔 No matter, here's what my past week was like! Oh no I have no pictures this week... only a screenshot of my vocal editing progress... 🥹

✨ Cover Projects -- Planned covers, and recorded vocals for one!

My subscription to Envato Elements ends this week, so I wanted to make sure that I could get assets that I need for any upcoming projects before that. After checking my backlog, picking songs, obtaining asset licenses, and submitting some Skeb requests, I think I have enough to last the rest of 2025? 🤔 Cover projects are so expensive. 🥺

I also noticed that I was nearing 900 subscribers on YouTube (at time of writing, it has hit 900💖), so I decided that it was time to get some fresh song ideas by asking the Gems for song requests! I could have opened up song requests to my wider socials (YouTube & Instagram), but I felt that I wanted to do something for those who cared enough about what I do to join the Discord Community Server. 🥹 I'm so glad that I did! Once again, the requested song is outside of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed singing it very much! Sadly I haven't been able to make much progress after recording because of some hacking works going on where I live - it sounds like someone is using a jack hammer on the wall behind my monitor screen right now.

Purple is tuned and timed. 🥹 I've got a long, long way to go.

But I hope the Gem who took time to send in the request would enjoy the cover when it's done. 💜

✨ Gaming -- FFXIV Savage Raid things, and attempting to rush through my Baldur's Gate 3 Dark Urge run.

Both were difficult. The raid progress didn't go well, and it has reached a point where our static leader has given us a soft ultimatum of clearing the tier by this week (week 8/ week of 20th May). Currently, 2/8 people have cleared the tier, and 3/6 of the remainder have been spending extra time this week doing M8S on their own. I fall within the remaining 3 people who haven't touched it at all.

We have 1 more session today, where majority of the team is hopeful that today is the day that we clear. I'm getting dizzy thinking about the very high possibility that I'll be the weakest link now. I'll probably be doing everything I can after this blog post to prepare for the run tonight. I just hope it's enough.

On the other hand, maybe my BG3 run has been progressing too fast. I think speed runners usually ensure that they have some trick up their sleeve to complete key quests in the easiest and fastest way possible. But I ran head first into major boss fights, skipping all the small bits of experience points that you would normally collect along the way. My MC was a lv 9 Warlock when fighting Orin (I built all my skills for crowd control because I forgot that she does a 1v1 when there's a dark urge on the team), lv 9~10 when fighting Gortash (with the Steel Watch still up), and lv 10 when fighting Cazador (this one was relatively easy because I had so many summons, but I still almost failed the fight at one point). I didn't do any tricks. Just did the fights. Thank god I was on Explorer mode. (Does it count as a cheese if I had burst down Gortash, looted his body, and ran away with only half my team left alive?)

I could finish the run tonight as I am able to take on the final boss now but damn, the fights were all so painful. But I'm glad I'm at the end.

Here's hoping it will be a good week of gaming, and getting to start on new things.

✨ Forever home -- Checked out many home furnishings, and picked doors and carpentry.

Touched A LOT of grass again this weekend! I'm so grateful for showrooms - visiting them and checking out furnishings helped with the decision making significantly. I tried sourcing for furniture online, but it's so difficult to tell the structural integrity or actual storage capacity of the item from just pictures and rough dimensions. Seems like I will need to many more visits to showrooms over the next few months.

It's still a little early for purchasing furnishings though!

This week I'll need to head back down to the house to check if defect rectifications by the building management are satisfactory. Hopefully no issues there! Then the next time I head down would be a fortnight later, when I will get to discuss electrical works and air-conditioning arrangements with the interior designer! Looking forward to that!

But I've completely forgotten to video record all the things I've done for the house renovation so far, so I guess there will be no video montage at the end! 🤣
