Looking back: May '25, Week 5(?)

Still wondering if I made a mistake with naming the weeks of May. 🤔 It was a peacefully quiet week! 🌙

✨ Cover Projects -- Released my vocal cover of Palette!

It was a joy to sing. 💖

I realized that maybe those who listen to my covers would know better what I might be good at, so I decided to ask my Discord gems for song requests to celebrate reaching 900 subscribers on YouTube. 💎

But when I received this marshmallow, I thought, "Oh no Yuyoyuppe?! I don't know this song, but I have a feeling that I won't do this song justice..." The song was nice though, so I decided to give it a shot. I realized that many covers follow Hanatan's version, where she hits a C5... which I don't think I have ever. My back up plan was to follow the original vocal line and hit a lower note at the end of the song instead.

But turns out I managed to hit the note perfectly on recording day, so I went with it!

As for the video, I tried to do an illustration myself, but after working on it for a whole afternoon, my GPU crashed during saving and overwrote all my work with corrupted data. 🙃 Went to Skeb to look for help the next day, and found Morinaka(Subaru), who amazingly managed to finish this illustration in A DAY. I know the illustration looks a little rough, but it's exactly what I wanted. 🥹💜 In my excitement I quickly put together the video and published it as soon as I could. ✨

I'm glad that the cover was well received by my gems. 🥹💎

Funnily enough, I found out after uploading that I didn't know this song because I skipped past it when playing Project Diva. 🤔 I've since played it though!!! 🤣

✨ Gaming -- PLAYED BALDUR'S GATE 3!!! WITH FRIENDS!!!

My FFXIV static managed to clear M8S, so we concluded static activities on Tuesday night.

****** WARNING! Baldur's Gate 3 spoilers ahead! ******

So I convinced some friends to try the new BG3 subclasses with me in a new Honor Mode run! 💖 Games are better with friends. 🥹 Even better when it's gaming friends you get along with as gamers.

🤔 ... and now I'm considering doing a run to romance Gale... Hmm... My curiosity has been piqued.

But before that, I had a Dark Urge run to speed through!

Truth be told, I was not very interested in the Dark Urge storyline. I did enjoy learning more about the overarching story though! Like other origin characters, Dark Urge has an alternate ending of sorts that I would have preferred, but I committed to this run to 100% my Steam achievements, so I begrudgingly sped through to the end. I managed to cheese my way through the final battle with a lot of invisibility potions and mobility skills. 🙃

I was mentally ready to go straight into a Karlach romancing run, but this scene at the end made me so sad.

Bye bye Astarion. 💀💔

I spent a very long time playing an Astarion romancing run before this Dark Urge one -- I dragged out my game for months because I didn't want it to end. 🙃 Being a very sentimental person, I chose to romance him again in this run even though I knew that the context of the story was so different... Astarion deserved better. 💔💀

I like Astarion as a character very much because the internal conflict he has as a result of his circumstance is something I empathize with very deeply. Also, while immersing myself in the story of Baldur's Gate 3, a lot of choices I made (while RP-ing a little) happened to mostly align with Astarion's approval. 🤔 So if left to play the game freely, I'd romance him every time. ❤️ (Even IRL, I perceive, I choose, and I commit. 🥺💜)

HOWEVER. I have a Karlach Steam achievement left to get! Karlach was actually the character I played as for my very first BG3 run (excluding the early access demo). Also, every run that I played with friends (where I don't romance anyone), as a Warlock friend of Karlach's, I always choose to follow her post-game. So I felt that it's finally time to give some closure to the story and actually hang out with my girl.

🤔 But Gale 🤔 and Halsin (I romanced him as Karlach before the game was fully fleshed out and it made for a very weird story) 🤔 and how could I leave my very last BG3 run save file as one where I didn't romance the my favorite? 🤔

I guess I'll be playing BG3 a lot more. 🥹💖

✨ Forever home -- Renovation has finally begun!

Nothing much to say about this! Our interior designer said that we're ahead of schedule, so I guess that's a good thing!

As much as I look forward to moving to a place with better sound isolation, I'm starting to feel like I will miss getting to welcome my mother home.

One step at a time!
