Looking back: Oct '25, Week 1

Slacked off on chores this week to focus on doing anything but, so the skin on my hand is getting better! 🙌 Was feeling heavy headed earlier in the week, but I feel better now! Hopefully this keeps up. 🥹

✨ Gaming -- Got rekt by Omega in Monster Hunter Wilds (but cleared Savage!)

Spent almost the whole week playing Monster Hunter Wilds! It took a whole evening to remember how to play this game though. 🤣 Plus, I play 2 types of weapons actively, and I like to play with elements, so I was in dire need of a refresher of how to use the different variations of kinsects, glaives and horns I had. On the bright side, my friends and I were back specifically to challenge the MHWilds X FFXIV collaboration fight against Omega, so I only needed to focus on getting good at 1 weapon of the right element.

Or so I thought.

My character single-handedly ruined the cuteness of this shot.

I struggled with lots of negative self-talk. I've never been good at dishing out damage in all the games I've played, and I don't play very defensively either, so I felt carried to victory. 🤔 My partner had to do so much pep talking this week, and I still wonder if I'm average or below average, or if friends actually want to have me on their team. 🤔 We had difficulty clearing the Savage fight the moment it wasn't with the usual friends we played with, so maybe that says something? My partner had the more difficult job of healing the team (it was recommended by the game guide for this hunt), so maybe I was the weakest link? 🤔🤔🤔

If it's any consolation, I did feel that I got better at the fight by the end of the week, so that's improvement? 🥺

Mood. Also, new glam! 💜

In other news, I spent an evening watching my partner's play-through of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, and another clearing lots of bosses in Don't Starve Together. I wonder if I still know how to fight bosses without the help of the current (pre-skill-tree-rework) Maxwell though. 🤔

Spirit City also had a free Halloween update, so I checked out some of the new features! Not so sure how I feel about the update to the productivity tools as I didn't get to use it much this week, but the update to halloween item dye channels and local music file import is pretty neat!

✨ Projects -- Sent off the commission! ♪

It's done! I did work! Client seems happy! I'm happy. 💖 I really did have fun with the project, so I'm glad they enjoyed it as much as I did.

It's probably not going to be published any time soon, but I'm looking forward to when it is! 💜 I hope they had fun covering this... interesting song! 🤔

✨ Random interesting thing (to me, at least)

I don't frequent streams, but a streamer I followed opened up an anonymous message box to collect questions for an Ask-Me-Anything stream. Out of genuine curiosity I submitted a question with sleepy eyes.

As the Cloudflare verification was processing, it suddenly dawned upon me that I wrote the message in my usual texting tone. 😱😱😱 I used to not use emojis in my texts, but somewhere along the way I felt that I might seem less intimidating if I texted like a "basic bitch"... which I learned about from 1 Cards Against Humanity card... Which is why... sometimes I specifically type the same emoji... 3 times... (God damn it! I used 3 scream emojis just a moment ago, didn't I?! 🤔🤔🤔 It's difficult to shake off a habit I consciously pick up...) Anyway, so I thought, "Would they figure out who wrote that question?! Okay, no way I'm just a rando on the internet... One of the many people in chat... RIGHT?" Initially I only wrote my question, but got tempted to write more because I thought that since it was anonymous, I could be more honest.🥺

So having dug my potential grave I was determined to watch the stream to check if they would just answer normally. I submitted a pretty simple question anyway, so the answer shouldn't take too long.

I was engrossed playing DST when the stream started so I missed a portion of it. Maybe they already answered the question? 🙃 BUT WHAT IF THEY HAVEN'T?! So I stayed to listen. To my surprise, some time later my attention was pulled away from DST because I heard my message being read. They answered cordially. : D I was about to wipe the sweat off my brow until they said they had a feeling they knew who wrote the question. I died of embarrassment. 💀

... Okay but did they actually? 🤔

I know it's not a big deal, but they've said so many nice things about me, and they sound so sincere when they say it, that I've always wondered if they really see me, or if I'm just another star in the sky. (No, I'm not parasocial! I'm thinking critically!)
